On 29 May 2026, the Beta ALIA CX300 touched down in the Netherlands for the first time — facilitated by e-Smart Avia in collaboration with EFC and the host airports. A milestone moment for electric aviation in Europe.
Beta Technologies is a US-based electric aviation company that has developed the ALIA CX300 — a fixed-wing electric aircraft with exceptional range, efficiency, and versatility.
Beta is at the forefront of making commercial electric aviation a reality. The ALIA CX300 can carry 5 passengers up to 500 km on a single charge.
On 29 May 2026, these historic demonstration flights marked a milestone moment for European electric aviation. Facilitated by e-Smart Avia and delivered in collaboration with EFC and the host airports, the Beta ALIA operated from Dutch airports for the first time — demonstrating the readiness of both the aircraft and the infrastructure.
Two iconic Dutch airports hosted the historic first demonstration flights of the Beta ALIA CX300 in the Netherlands.
North Holland, The Netherlands
Strategically positioned at the heart of North Sea operations, Den Helder Airport is pioneering the transition to electric regional aviation. Den Helder Airport is positioning itself as Europe's leading electric vertiport — connecting offshore energy, logistics, and regional travel through zero-emission flight.
Flevoland, The Netherlands
At the centre of the Netherlands, Lelystad Airport is uniquely positioned to become the first fully electric commercial airport in Europe. Lelystad Airport, the Province of Flevoland, the city of Lelystad and a growing network of partners are developing Lelystad Innovation Area (LAIA), bringing together infrastructure, energy systems, and operations to power the next generation of regional electric flights across Europe.
Both events were fully attended. Participants experienced live landings of the Beta ALIA CX300, panel discussions, and networking with Europe's electric aviation community.
The Den Helder Airport event on 29 May was a great success. Thank you to all attendees!
